E-commerce and Entrepreneurship are some of the hottest buzzwords today. From global platforms like Amazon to local heroes like Carousell, how does one go about starting his/her own business? What is it like to create a product? How do I create awareness for my app? These were some of the questions posed by students to the 3 guest speakers on the 5th of December 2018.
“You sell the story, not the product.”
First stop, Jason Lee, the founder of the fragrance brand, SIX emphasized the importance of having a story behind your brand and products, just as how each scent in his fragrances is inspired by stories of people and places.
Zeemart’s Darryl Tan then shared about platform businesses such as Facebook, Alibaba, and Airbnb, which own none of their content or inventory, but are all giants in their respective industries and markets.
After that, the students were introduced to the concept of e-commerce unification by Mahesh Duvvuru of SellinAll. SellinAll enables online store owners to list and sell their products in more than 25 marketplaces around the world in 1 platform, providing the ease in managing and tracking their inventories across the different marketplaces.
We would like to thank Temasek Polytechnic for inviting us down and for making this event possible. To all the students who attended, thank you for participating and we wish them all the best for their final year projects!
